Regional Reserving Actuary (Regional)

Strategic Goal of the Team:

  • Provide tailored solutions and engage actively with internal and external stakeholder to support the firm's strategic, business and financial targets per approved Business Plan
  • Sustain and promote company's brand, strengthening our profile as a leading reinsurer in global markets.
  • Deliver timely, accurate and insightful analysis.
  • Take the lead on evolving reporting matters, e.g. including smooth delivery and embedding of IFRS17 requirements

Principal Accountabilities:

  • Support quarterly reviews of the premium, loss and expense reserves on all lines of business for P&C. This includes the calculation of an actuarial best estimate and calculations of applicable risk margins and discounting. It requires working closely with frontline business staff including but not limited to the markets, underwriters and analytics team members in the process.
  • Present and communicate the result of the quarterly reserve analysis to senior management and to all other key stakeholders as required.
  • Support external consultants' independent analyses of the P&C reserves and support statutory reporting requirements as needed.
  • Review the current process and provide suggestion for enhancement as necessarily
  • Contribute to the ongoing development and management of reserving databases, applications and systems
  • Work closely with financial planning & controlling team on annual planning exercises and ongoing portfolio analysis, including key account reviews.
  • Support risk capital modelling in connection with the solvency reporting for the Group and Subsidiary/Branch entities
  • Support the Reserving Director in providing information to the risk management team on asset liability management analysis.
  • Support any reserving due diligence work in connection with portfolio acquisition projects.
  • Performing and presenting ad-hoc analyses.
  • Support the Group's IFRS 17 Implementation project
  1. Job Based Competencies
  • Degree in Mathematics, Actuarial or any other related subject
  • Candidate should be well-progressed towards fellowship level, or recently qualified with a major actuarial body
  • 5+ years P&C experience preferably including reinsurance experience
  • Solid technical knowledge of standard reserving techniques, ideally including stochastic methods
  • Good customer service, and interpersonal skills
  • Able to work independently and take responsibility for some projects
  • Good command of written and spoken English
